Nitronic 60 / Alloy 218 Stainless Steel Plate

Nitronic 60 stainless steel is a low-cost material that is resistant to wear and abrasion. Its corrosion resistance is better than 304 stainless steel, chloride pit corrosion resistance is better than 316 stainless steel, and its room temperature yield strength is twice that of 304 and 316. At the same time, Nitronic 60 has good high temperature oxidation resistance and low temperature impact resistance. Because Nitronic 60 stainless steel plates and other profiles have excellent wear resistance and scratch resistance at room temperature and heating environments, they are widely used in valve stems, valve seats, valve cores, nuts, bolts, screens, chain drives, latches, and gaskets , Rolling bearings, pump parts, including wear rings and rotors.

Product Details of Nitronic® 60 Alloys Stainless Steel Plate:

Nitronic 60 (S21800/Alloy 218) 218 alloy stainless steel plate has high strength, high corrosion resistance, high elongation, and the yield strength is twice that of 304 and 316 stainless steel. In a flexible state, it is resistant to chloride crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. Highly resistant, the tension can be more than 200 times. Nitronic 60 stainless steel sheet is used in valves, latch systems, roller bearings, pump wells, food processing, medicine, automobiles, aerospace, nuclear and other aspects.

Overview of ASTM A240 Nitronic 60 Stainless Steel Plate:

Nitronic 50 (XM-19/FXM-19) S20910 is a nitrogen-strengthened austenitic stainless steel, its yield strength is about twice that of ordinary 3xx series stainless steel, and its corrosion performance is improved. It is widely used in various marine and industrial applications.

Compared with 316L alloy, Nitronic 50 stainless steel plate contains increased chromium and molybdenum, thereby improving corrosion resistance. The pitting resistance equivalent number (PREN) of 316L alloy is 25, while the PREN of Nitronic 50 is 34. Super duplex stainless steel has a PREN>40, but has different mechanical properties. This is the main reason why Nitronic 50 was chosen to replace the super duplex alloy. Because of its ability to resist sulfide stress cracking, it is listed as an acidic application in NACE MR 0175.

Nitronic 50 (XM-19/UNS S20910) stainless steel plate has very good mechanical properties at high and sub-zero temperatures. Even after large cold deformation or at sub-zero temperature, it can maintain a very low magnetic permeability, and at the same time, it has very good mechanical properties at 1200°F (649°C). Although it can maintain a very low magnetic permeability in a low temperature environment, it still cannot reach the level of Nitronic 33 and Nitronic 40. Many processes have demonstrated outstanding corrosion resistance. After 2025°F (1107°C) annealing treatment, even in the post-welded state, it can exhibit excellent corrosion resistance in a highly corrosive environment.

Nitronic 50 (W.Nr. 1.4565, NAS XM-19) stainless steel plate has outstanding performance in resistance to sulfide stress corrosion cracking and resistance to intergranular corrosion. It can withstand long-term exposure to the marine atmosphere. Tests have shown that its corrosion resistance in calm sea water is slightly better than Monel 400 (UNS N04400). This steel is affected by stress corrosion cracking in a nitride environment, and its crack resistance is between 304 and 316. Nitronic 50 stainless steel plate is a high-efficiency alloy used in petroleum, petrochemical, chemical, fertilizer, nuclear fuel recycling, pulp and paper, textile, food processing and marine industries.
