Global Crude Steel Production 2020 Was 137.1 Million Tons, Down 13%

In April 2020, the crude steel output of 64 countries included in the World Steel Association statistics was 137.1 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 13%. China's crude steel production in April was 85 million tons, an increase of 0.2% year-on-year; the EU crude steel production in April was estimated at 107.29 billion tons, a year-on-year decrease of 22.9%.


Affected by COVID-19, some of this month's data are estimated and may be revised when production data is released next month. In April 2020, China's crude steel production was 85 million tons, up 0.2% year-on-year; India's crude steel production in April was 3.1 million tons, down 65.2% year-on-year; Japan's crude steel output in April was 6.6 million tons, down 23.5 year-on-year %.

Stainless Steel Production 2020

The crude steel production in the EU in April 2020 is estimated at 107.29 billion tons, a year-on-year decrease of 22.9%. The US crude steel production in April 2020 was 5 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 32.5%.


April crude steel production in the CIS region is estimated at 6.554 million tons, down 22.6% year-on-year; Ukraine's crude steel production in April 2020 was 1.4 million tons, down 30.9% year-on-year. Brazil's crude steel production in April 2020 was 1.8 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 39%.


Turkey's crude steel production in April 2020 was 2.2 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 26.3%. Note: 1) The World Steel Association is one of the largest and most active industry associations in the world, with members all over the world's major steel-producing countries.
