Overview of ASTM A312 TP316 Stainless Steel Tube:

316 stainless steel is a grade of stainless steel produced in accordance with the American ASTM standard. 316 is equivalent to our country's 0Cr17Ni12Mo2 stainless steel. Japan also quoted the American name and called it: SUS316.

SUS316 stainless steel has good plasticity, toughness, cold denaturation, and welding process performance. 316 has good high temperature strength and 316L has poor high temperature performance, but its corrosion resistance is better than 316. Because of its low carbon content and 2%-3% molybdenum, it has improved Corrosion resistance to reducing salts and various inorganic and organic acids, alkalis, salts, and high temperature strength.

Basic features:

1) The appearance of cold rolled products has good gloss;

2) Due to the addition of Mo (2~3%), corrosion resistance, especially pitting corrosion resistance is excellent

6) Good welding performance. 

All standard welding methods can be used for welding. During welding, 316Cb, 316L or 309Cb stainless steel filler rods or welding rods can be used according to the application. In order to obtain the best corrosion resistance, the welded section of 316 stainless steel needs to be annealed after welding. If 316L stainless steel is used, post-weld annealing treatment is not required.

The element content of 316 stainless steel is: C≤0.08%, Si≤1%, Mn≤2%, P≤0.045%, S≤0.03%, Ni: 10.0%~14.0%, Cr16.0%~18.0%, Mo: 2.00%-3.00%.
