Product Details of Nitronic® 60 Stainless Steel Bars:

Nitronic 60 (S21800/Alloy 218) 218 alloy stainless steel bars has high strength, high corrosion resistance, high elongation, and the yield strength is twice that of 304 and 316 stainless steel. In a flexible state, it is resistant to chloride crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking. Highly resistant, the tension can be more than 200 times. Nitronic 60 stainless steel rods is used in valves, latch systems, roller bearings, pump wells, food processing, medicine, automobiles, aerospace, nuclear and other aspects.

Overview of ASTM A276 Nitronic 60® Stainless Steel Round Bars:

Compared with cobalt-containing and high-nickel alloys, Nitronic® 60 (Alloy 218, UNS S21800) stainless steel can achieve corrosion resistance and wear resistance at a very low cost. Its overall corrosion resistance is better than Type 304 in most media. In Nitronic 60, the ability to resist chloride pitting is better than that of 316 type.

The yield strength at room temperature is almost twice that of 304 and 316.

Nitronic® 60 (Alloy 218, UNS S21800) has excellent high temperature oxidation resistance and low temperature impact resistance. It is widely used in electric power, chemical, petrochemical, food and oil and gas industries, including expansion joint wear plates, wear pump rings, bushings, process valve stems, seals and logging equipment.

Nitronic® 60 (Alloy 218, UNS S21800) performance characteristics:

1. Heat treatment system

1066℃ heat preservation and then water cooling. This steel cannot be hardened by heat treatment.

2. Processing performance

Install the furnace below 816°C, heat to 1093°C, then heat to 1117°C, and reheat after forging.

3. Welding performance

Nitronic® 60 Stainless Steel Round Bar can be welded by ordinary welding methods. Tungsten tungsten argon welding is feasible, and its welded joints have wear resistance comparable to that of the base; it is also feasible to use tungsten argon welding and matching welding materials, and its welded joints have slightly higher strength and resistance than the base material. The grinding performance is slightly lower than that of the base material.

4. Machining performance

The machining performance of this steel is relatively poor, only about 50% of 304.

5. Other properties

Alloy 218 Stainless Steel Round Bar can provide wear resistance that only co-containing and high-Ni alloys have at a lower cost. In most media, its corrosion resistance is better than 304, and it has better pitting resistance than 316 in chloride solution. The yield strength at room temperature is approximately twice that of 304 and 316. In addition, this steel also has excellent high temperature oxidation resistance and low temperature impact toughness. One of its most prominent characteristics is wear resistance. This steel also has excellent wear resistance similar to inconel718 at 600°C. Compared with other austenitic stainless steels and duplex stainless steels, it has excellent cavitation resistance and can replace Co-containing wear-resistant alloys.

Chemical Composition of Nitronic® 60 UNS S21800 Round Bars:
